It's a pretty unique place to eat with interesting bread bowl combos you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else. It definitely markets itself as the place to come and get rid of your case of the munchies and probably not a place to bring small children. Pretty grungy but if you're hungry it'll fill you up (if not with what's in the bread bowls, then with the bread bowl itself).
Definitely NOT a health food place. Food is good, but it is very salty. Portion sizes are large, and when you take it home it gets soggy and is not nearly as good when eaten later. The bread is the best part of the meals. Their new breakfast is very good.
Were visiting UCSB with our daughter. Buddha Bowls was recommended to us and it was very good. Lots of calories though. So it's you are on a diet this isn't the place for you. Place could have been cleaner.
The store itself is quaint. The food is meh and the seating is uncomfortable.
Relatively cheap ($12 including the tip), tasty, and filling. It's like subway on steroids, and if you can manage, you can have one for two meals.
