    NOT BAD, BUT NOT GREAT

If you’re looking for authentic Vietnamese bun rieu, this is NOT the place. But, it’s kind of the only place for bun rieu in San Jose so... Yeah, this is all you get. The food is not bad. It’s just that Vietnamese bun rieu is supposed to be much much tastier.

Services are good. The place is clean and organized. I gave it the 4th star because of this.

Just get their crab udon soup. Or if you’d like sturdier, the ramen one. Thick rich and amazing broth. Highly recommend!

Spacious and relatively clean place. Pretty authentic Bun rieu cua. Great nuoc mam me and mam ruot sauce. The staff seems overwhelmed and inexperienced so please be patient.

    Bún Riêu Cua Tân Dinh

It’s a new restaurant located inside Vietnam Town, Little Saigon, between Walmart and the Grand Century, the same owners of Nuoc Mía Viên Dong sugarcane & dessert shop in the same building, just slightly in the back!

Plenty of outdoor tables, perfect for summer and dog friendly, plenty of parking spaces on the right side complex of this plaza! If you know where to look!

Bún Riêu was solidly good. They come with congealed blood cake, tofu, a piece of ham, but not enough RIÊU itself. They used what tasted like CUA DÔNG, South East Asia soft shell crab and egg only, no dried shrimp nor ground pork like some other restaurants would use!

They give you generous fresh herbs and veggies: Rau Muong shredded Vietnamese Water Spinach, Rau Chuoi shredded Babana Blossom, herbs, lime, beans sprouts...

Love their fresh chili sauce at the table! It gives it a touch of freshness!

Bún Mám is kind of like Vietnamese Fermented Fish & seafood (prawn, squid, fish, porkbelly), bone broth, egg plant, lemongrass, chive stew-like. The noodle is similar to the rice noodle of BÚN BÒ HUÊ’ rice vermicelli, slightly chewier. The broth is heavily flavorful, thicker, on the saltier side... There’s less than a handful places in San Jose serves this, but those places made it too sweet (lot of sugar), Bún Riêu Tân Dinh made this solidly good.

The aroma is incredibly pungent that will drive non-Vietnamese customers right out the door. But if you can handle it. It’s quite tasty and satisfied to our Vietnamese guests on a cold day!

Bánh Canh, a tapioca/rice clear thick noodle soup, similar to udon style, wasn’t as good and it needs more topping, less noodle!

The service is really slow.... like turtle slowwwww! 30 minutes to get my Bún Riêu out... 45 mins later, Bánh Canh didn’t make it, so we packed it togo.

Steamed Escargot/snail Chã, ham-like with lemongrass, wrapped in banana leave, serves with Nuoc Cham (mixes sweet & tangy fish sauce), was good, or that it took so long for the Bún Riêu to come out, I ate all of it! HA.

The servers are nice and genuinely apologetic about the long wait. They need to work out the kinks.

The young girl was a cashier... their credit card system didn’t work on our visit, so CASH was the method of payment. The little girl cashier could crack a smile would be nice. I understand she’s helping her parents! I feel bad for her! A lot of pressure and stressful for a teenager on soft opening, but I admire her for helping her parents out.

Most kids here when they they their parents are rich, they don’t learn nothing, with that privilege, they don’t go far in life! So kudo for this girl!

High ceiling, clustered decor, not a good flow of traffic in and out, hope they figure it out and here to stay!

The owners are nice, humbled, and down to earth and I hope they will be success as their Sugarcane shop! I admire kind and genuine folks! I can’t wait to come back to try other dishes!

For sweet tooth, you will love all their desserts, juice, and tea here! They have over 2 pages of the menu just for that.
