Mochicream has a stand in Plano, TX at one point and decided to close shop. It was a very sad day to see it go. They had the best mochi ever! Their mochi is flown over from Japan and arrives frozen. Once you thaw it, you get this very soft, delicate texture that's rich and creamy. The most popular one is double mango. It's sold out on the weekends so it's best to order a lot if you are a fan of mango. Other flavor that are a hit, cafe au lait, black sesame, blueberry and azuki. Don't let the price deter you from trying the most amazing mochi.
I love all of the flavors. My personal favorite is the chocolate mochi. They come frozen, so let them defrost for a tiny bit before eating. Delicious!
Great mochi! Definitely better than eating it from a box. It's inside the Mitsuwa market.
If beans for dessert doesn’t appeal to you but you want to give mochi a second chance, check out this place. Traditionally mochi is filled with sweetened red or white bean paste, but these are filled with cream. The glutinous rice shells are soft and the cream fillings are light but full of flavor. They come frozen and you have to thaw them for 15- 20 minutes before consuming. They also offer mochido, which is essentially the same thing as mochi but shaped into adorable donuts and “glazed” with chocolate. I’ve tried almost every mochi and mochido flavor they offer and have yet to encounter a flavor I’ve disliked or felt neutral about. I highly recommends the Darjeeling, green tea, black sesame, and double mango.
