“The food was awesome. We went on a Friday at 10 and the place wasn't busy. The wait for food was little and portions were huge. My girlfriend from Maine said she felt like she was in a resterant back home. We look forward to going again, but it seems like from what the other reviews are saying, weekdays are best to avoid a wait.”

“Fresh food with the typical pretentious atmosphere. You might go here to be seen, and the service is acceptable. Overall, the menu is nice and simple with plenty of choices for surf and turf. Prices are mid-range, and craft beers/wines are acceptable regarding selection.”

“Taste is a cut above similar restaurants in Santa Cruz County (Japanese/Sushi). Service and ambiance are nice, but taste sets it apart. Hope one day they add hibachi vegetables to menu.”

“A fantastic restaraunt and one of my favorites. The food is fantastic, as is the service; despite them always being busy, there's always plenty of fresh made chips and salsa supplied to the table, and water is always topped off. Everyone who works here is friendly, smiling and welcoming. Saturdays tend to be busy but the Saturday special is my absolute favorite; basically some juicy, delicious bacon wrapped shrimp in a taco bowl with rice and beans. It comes with a small salad (with guacamole, so if you love avocados it's with a try), tea or coffee, and dessert (my favorite being the Mexican chocolate ice cream.) It's also open later than most places in Santa Cruz. I've been here plenty of times over the years and never had a bad experience. It's good and consistent and I definitely recommend it. There are only two down sides: it can get very busy, (unsurprising considering how good it is) so you'll probably want reservations, especially over weekends. Also because it's so busy it can get crowded and loud. Not much they can do about it, but is you're bothered by that you probably want to try coming by earlier or later. It's still very much worth a visit!”

“We stumbled on this place and really glad we did. The service was friendly and helpful when ordering both did and beer (of which the selection was amazing!) The brisket was a bit tough but the pulled pork sandwiches were great. I would definitely come back to try more of their food.”

“Great old-school style drive-in. Nobody there knew how old it was, but it looks to be legit, from the 50s or 60s. Burgers are on point, and the fries, distributed in huge servings, are AMAZING. Get the authentic soft-serve with chocolate she'll dip for the total experience...or get a malt! Fun service, speedy prep, decent prices and a real retro feel make this a must-stop when in the area.”

“Cafe Sparrow has an unassuming store front, but the atmosphere inside is elegant and welcoming. It has a long record of dedication to quality dishes and fresh food. The menu changes daily and they always offer a variety that includes something for everyone. They are renowned for their pork chops, but the fish and beef prep is on par. Sparrow also offers an interesting variety of wines. The French influence is present in every aspect. This is my go to for special occasions and one of the best restaurants in the bay area.”

“I like Showtime Pizza. I like their meatball sandwiches. They come with mozzarella. They have beer on tap, pitchers and pints. They have salads and other Italian cuisine. Casual dining with 3 T.V.s. Choose your own table. My husband regularly gets their pizza slices, ready to go.”

“Had a great sandwich. Awesome decor, the historic pictures of the aptos area made me take my time and enjoy the experience. Other people probably agree. The line was out the door before I was done eating. BTW, I don't give 5 star unless it was truly a good time.”

“Absolutely excellent. I enjoyed the food, the service, everything. Our waiter was also an owner, and he obviously loves his work. We had a number of food allergies represented in our party, and they were accommodating of everything we threw at them. We also brought kids! Gasp! They took good care of the kids, too. I cannot recommend this restaurant highly enough. Go. Enjoy great food from dedicated workers, and support a local business. You won't regret it.”

“It wasn't as good as I remembered. I went there for years. This time it was a little saltier than normal. Maybe just an over seasoned batch of chicken”
