Hong Kong Cafe

Late night, 11:30, I staggerd in. You could tell they were getting ready to close. But the night manager was very hospitable and patiently described the menu items to me. That night, although the menu was clearly written in English, as well as Chinese, it all looked Chinese to me. So, I ended up having a standard 2 item plate with Chow l that was perfect in every way. And the vegetables were cooked to perfection as well. Not over done, but crisp and fresh. Flavorfull. Like vegetables should be. Then there was the meat. Cooked just right. You could tell, the portions were measured so there wasn't too much excess. However, the meat was black peppered chicken and it was obviously prepared by someone that knew how to trim the fat, and cook. Overall, Hong Kong Cafe rocks! If you can find it, the cafe is tucked into the rear of the Safeway shopping center on the opposite end from Office Depot. Right off of Poleline Road and Cowell in Davis, California. It's been months since I came back. It seems there was a change in ownership. Food was better than before. Service was subpar.

Authentic and very tasty. Good service.
Could use a little updating on the inside but doesn't matter cook's are great.
