“Super cute place and the owner and workers are really nice! Definitely a gem in east haddam that you must visit! I got a banana strawberry smoothie which was nice, I liked how sweet it was, it was basically my desert drink! I got a turkey sandwich which was good, everything was very fresh. And we had also got a Ruben which was very tasty. We sat out at the back and you can see a stream running through. Super cute and cozy atmosphere to just sit and talk while enjoying some food and drink.”

“This place was worth it, the food was exceptionally good! I drove 40 minutes just to get to this place and I was pleasantly surprised. there was a fireplace & it felt nice and cozy, they play country music and the staff is friendly also the service is rather quick and the pricing is just right I ate all of my plate and left very full and satisfied. The only thing I found a little bothersome was how loud the people at the bar where they were yelling constantly and there was a lot of profanity so taking kids there is not a good idea.”

“This restaurant was incredible And their food is the best part of it! Their staff are extremely friendly and will help you in any way they can. After a couple had left the table by the fire place we asked to move there because we went their for Mother's Day and it was a cold day. They were very kind to do so and even helped move our plates in everything over to. This restaurant is well maintained right down to the restrooms everything is clean here.”

“After spending a beautiful day with family on the Essex train & steamboat, wandering around Gillett Castle grounds; we were very ready for a good meal and a nice place to sit and visit. Moodus BBQ was the perfect choice. Tantalizing smells greeted us along with easy seating in a cozy, family friendly dining room. The menu had a great selection of all things BBQ - pulled pork & chicken, ribs, wings and sausages. There was a good selection of appetizers & side dishes, including cornbread which isn't typically offered in this area. Our family has several different diet restrictions and all of us - even gluten free, found something they liked. The service was accommodating quickly bringing crayons etc for the kids and an additional pitchure of water when we all ordered water. It was nice to see other large families there enjoying themselves too. We lingered visiting but did not feel rushed. As we were leaving the owner came outside with us and thanked us for "stopping by". If only I didn't live in Illinois, I would certainly be "stopping by" again soon. I hope local folks know how blessed they are with Moodus BBQ!”

“I have come to the Gelston House several times now. several trends have developed. I have never been disappointed by anything but while the food is quite good the service is not great sometimes when they are at peek costomers. In the end however, all is usually overshadowed by the outstanding view. While the formal room is nice the deck is stunning.”
