The sandwiches are scrumptious! I used to work a block away and would come here often. After a long day of interviews, I was starving! I'm glad I made the 3 block trek in the frigid winter wearing only a suite jacket to Au Bon.
I customized my sandwich loaded with veggies, mozzarella cheese, and pesto aioli on a semolina bread. The sandwich was packed with fresh veggies - carrots, roasted red pepper, cucumber, pickled onions. The sandwich was divine.
Best part of the sandwich? I was charged less than $5 for a cheese sandwich with unlimited veggies and toppings. The guy hooked me up!
If I'm in the area and craving a sub, Au Bon Pain is my go to spot!
Servers were cheerful and helpful. Food was very good and fresh! It is a bit pricey, though.
I come here often in the mornings as it's right off the Metro. The service around the breakfast sandwich/bagel area is always pretty slow, so be cautious about ordering if you're in a rush. Several times there have been a few confusions regarding who ordered what, and when. But I have to write home about the baked goods - the seasonal gingerbread loaf is like biting into a piece of heaven!! And if you come between 5 and 6 PM the cookies are discounted, so they're like a dollar each. Hard to resist popping in for a cookie on the way home from work...
Great breakfast for best price in Washington. If we travel again to DC we will definitely stop by
I ate here 3 or 4 times during the week I was visiting the city.
The Thai Peanut Chicken Wrap as well as all of their soups are incredible.
Highly recommended for a (relatively) affordable lunch.
