Lovely place for a date. Attentive staff and delicious specials. Plan for an upscale dining experience where you check your jacket at the door and have your table cleaned between courses. Dessert tiramisu was a nice finish to the meal.
The ambiance was inviting but the food and service did not meet our expectations for a price point of a higher end Italian dinner. We should have heeded the reviews that reported that the staff will up-sell the meal which our server did very skillfully to the tune of an increase of about 20%. Be prepared for the "recommendations" that will accompany each element of the dinner. The extra cost would have been fine IF the food had been excellent which was not the case for the fish or the chicken. They were adequate but not to the degree expected. Our children did like the duck which was prepared well.
The beef ravioli was just okay. It tasted like canned beef stew. The mixture of greens in my salad was nice, but the dressing tasted like plain olive oil. The passion fruit sorbet was delicious.
Very charming place with great food, I'd say this is a four course Italian restaurant, great for a romantic occasion. Staff is very friendly and food is very good. Just pay attention and ask for the price of the specials that that they offer, it can be much more expensive than the regular options available on the menu.
Pele have been here and George Clooney is a regular.
Three complaints: (1) The portions are small. (2) When I ordered hot tea with lemon and honey, the tea arrived without lemon or honey, I had to ask again to receive honey. (3) Where we were seated we couldn't see or feel the fireplace, but to be fair I didn't ask to be seated near it.
If these sound like nitpicks, they are. The food was delicious, the ambience and service excellent. These minor complaints were not enough to dock a star, and I'd gladly eat here again.
