This place is a dream for vegans. Even if you aren't vegan, the good is great. Well flavored, fresh and tasty. When you are looking for healthy Isareli food you should give this place a try.
Tasty food, but expensive. Over $17 for a burger and the sweet potato fries - yet they won't give you an extra ketchup? Customer service could improve.
So so so good and huge portion. Shouk burger hands down. Polenta fries good a little salty, but nice execution. The green sauce (sorry forgot the name) you have to ask for. They make the burgers with love for sure. Been back 4 times in 2 much. Addictive.
Let me just preface this review by saying that I'm not a vegetarian by any stretch of the imagination. I enjoy my meats.
That said, this is one of the best vegetarian meals I've ever had in my life. Of course, my experience hasn't been that broad, but I went with a lifelong vegetarian from Israel who told me it's some of the most authentic Israeli food he's had in the United States. That ought to tell you something.
The restaurant is a couple of blocks from Union Market and in, if we're being honest, kind of sketchy part of the city. But honestly, any risk of death is worth this food.
The pita sandwiches were absolutely phenomenal. All the flavors blended so wonderfully together and there was this special sauce they put over everything that really made it something to write home about.
The prices were reasonable and the restaurant was almost completely empty when we went, so there were plenty of places to sit.
I know there are a lot of places to eat in Union Market, but this place is off the beaten path and wonderful. To all my non-vegetarians out there, give this place a shot. It's well worth it.
