Amazing food with super friendly service all at very reasonable prices. This place really earns it's perfect 5 star average.
I love this place. The chicken salad is so fresh and awesome. And the staff is always so nice and helpful. It is the best salad place in DC area. I would go there more often but Georgetown is just a horrible place to park. But I definitely recommend this jewel it is definitely worth it.
Burmese restaurants are popping up throughout the D.C. area all with the goal of making the cuisine "more accessible." If there's one restaurant that will achieve this goal, it's Bandoola Bowl. Here's why:
1) Food: They break down the key ingredients and flavors of Burmese cuisine into a fast-casual concept. They make rice and noodle bowls with your choice of protein (pork, chicken, tofu, etc) and fixings (veggies, sauce, etc). They also have soups and a traditional dessert. We ordered the spicy noodle bowl with the best-seasoned pork we've ever had. Within three bites, my wife looked over at me and said, "I will craze this often." The food is quality, delicious, and accessible. Even our three-year-old loved the rice and noodles. The dessert is a traditional cake with raisins in it. I do not like raisins, but there aren't many in it and the taste is amazing.
2) Service: I can confidently say the stay are the most friendly I've ever encountered. Once they sensed it was our first visit, they welcomed us and let us try their food before ordering. They brought our food to us unasked and even stopped by with a free dessert. They made us feel like family!
3) Location: It's in Georgetown just off of M Street near several other fast-casual restaurants like Taim (a falafel place from NYC). It's the perfect spot to attract students, tourists, and locals.
So, this is tough. This is one of the cases of 4.5 stars but on the positive side so I picked 5 instead of 4 stars.
This place offers good lunch option, the food is light. (If you tend to eat light dinner, this would be a good place to pick up in the evening) Tastes pretty good and fresh. Staff is friendly. I especially enjoy their pork salad. I do like the location too. A good atmosphere if you go upstairs and sit down. Located in a beautiful location in Georgetown, it'd make a good date option. You can grab the bowls, go sit near the canal and enjoy each other's company.
So before I begin with this part of the review, I'd like to inform that I'm a Burmese. Apart from the name (Named after a Burmese king who fought during the British invasion) and the owners who're Burmese, is it actually Burmese food? The salads have some elements of Burmese flavors but they aren't probably that close to Burmese food.
You should give this place a try. But you probably shouldn't say "Ooh I tried Burmese food before!" in a conversation because you've tried "Burmese" food only at Bandoola Bowl.
Just had the new chickpea bowl it was really tasty and filling. Staff was so nice when I came in and had me try a bunch of different sauces and ingredients. The place has also a lot of vegan options that I really appreciated. Highly recommend!
