A very fine establishment with a great staff. I love how they converted whatever old building this was into a restaurant, it gives it this rustic feel. The huge windows are a plus too, they give off a bunch of natural light. The food here is good, if you've been to any other bus boys you know what to expect.
I was taken to breakfast as a birthday treat. I ordered the sweet potato pancakes with scrambled eggs and bacon. The fruit was ripe and sweet just the way I like it. The portions are large. I was able to take some home for later. My second invite was for dinner. I ate catfish with greens and cornbread. I ate all of it and later ordered fresh pecan pie with vanilla ice cream. One word: Delicious!
Very interesting place!
After visiting the Big Chair, I went to Busboys and Poets for lunch. An interesting venue - cross between a bookstore, art gallery, and restaurant. The place is a lot bigger than it looks - the art really interesting and thought-provoking. I found out from my server, that the location is controversial -some locals think that its an example of Anacostia gentrification. The owner made sure to include local artists in all of the art on display. In the bookstore section there is a selection of high school art on display. I was impressed by the entire location.
The only reason why I would not give it 5 stars - the service. Even though it was the lunch rush, it was not overly busy. I waited a long time for my appetizers (shrimp and crab balls); followed by an even longer wait for the salad and finally the check. For lunch, I would expect a faster service since many workers have to get back to work within the hour. The entire I waited for food and ate took about 2 hours. A little long! I wonder if that is the plan - have people walk around the gallery looking at art. Not sure.
If I had the chance, I would go back, with the understanding that it will not be a quick meal
Food was amazing! Service is improving and young people work hard to please customers. New events manager was very supportive and did everything to guarantee we were satisfied. I will return!
Waiting for the opening and no disappointment here! Enjoyed a wonderful meal and the atmosphere is awesome! The staff are with it! Heading back for breakfast tomorrow. Anacostia really will benefit from this wonderful addition to the neighborhood. Thank you!
