We had the pleasure of dining at this exceptional Black-owned restaurant in Washington, D.C., and it was truly an unforgettable experience. The atmosphere was absolutely amazing and inviting, with unique decor that made us feel like royalty. The chef's personalized menu was incredible, and we, as a family of four, devoured our meals in less than 30 minutes – it was that delicious!

We enjoyed the crab cakes, egg rolls, lamb chops, and garlic wings. Each dish was so mouth-wateringly good that it made us want to "slap your mama"!

I highly recommend this place, a perfect 10 out of 10. If you're visiting the Washington, D.C. area and looking for an incredible eatery with a great atmosphere and phenomenal food, this is the place to be.

Cozy space with nice vybe. The decor is nice. Appreciated the history in starting the restaurant. Nice food selection although they could offer at least one signature vegetarian dish. Went with a meetup group for an afternoon get together. Everyone enjoyed their meal. Please note this is a training kitchen too. They train people in culinary pursuits.

I'll never have anything significantly bad to say about this place! To be fair, if you're not from here the area is under development (it's hood but being gentrified) AND ....parking can be hard to find.

This is what a true hidden gem is in my opinion. KS offers a sort of southern...American...favorite staples kind of menu with an upscale flair. I've had the catfish which was amazing, oysters and the drinks were always great.

Besides the food and environment the customer service goes above and beyond. I've had issues with my food that were immediately solved without any fuss (because some places WILL fuss), I've seen them personally accommodate the customer based off of simple conversation and the bartender is so pleasant. All in all you can't beat it. Great food, great staff, great music

Popped in on a random Thursday evening. Been wanting to try. It wasn't crowded at all. The service was awesome the food was AMAZING! The crab cakes egg rolls melt in your mouth. Large enough portions for leftovers which were just as amazing warmed up. Perfect place for date night or to sit at the bar and grab a bite. Definitely a hidden gem!

This is the BEST restaurant I have been to in the DMV!! That’s a bold statement, but true.

We went for lunch on a Friday. The place was not crowded and we were able to talk to the owner, Darrell. He explained the mural of his mom. Then the food started coming out.
Crab cake egg rolls, completely different take. The best catfish I’ve had with in house tartar and hot sauce. Chicken shrimp gumbo, great even though they couldn’t get okra from their purveyors. Excellent collards greens.

Classic Caesar with Jerk chicken is a flavorful meal. The lamb rigatoni has marinated meat with flavor throughout the meat. Sauce for the rigatoni was completely different, mix of Jamaican and Creole. Darrell says it was his family home cooking. Delicious!

The strawberry cheesecake, made in house, was awesome. The strawberry sauce, made from fresh strawberries, is the best!

We took the crab balls to go. The restaurant is a gem, food is great. We will definitely be heading back.
