Sonny's BBQ

I frequented this restaurant as a kid growing up in OP and it usually ends up on our dining options when I come into town as well. Love the BBQ and all the sauces. The remodel looks so good and the restaurant is very inviting. The salad bar is great and I am always a big fan of the green beans and sweet potatoes. Super friendly staff too.

Sonny's is probably my favorite place since moving down south. There aren't any in my home state of Missouri. When I first moved here, I stayed with my son, and he was getting their BBQ sauce from the grocery store. I loved it, then out by myself one day, I saw my 1st Sonny's restaurant. Didn't even connect the two till I was ordering from the menu! It's hard for me to even pass a Sonny's up. The redneck egg rolls are the absolute best thing going!!! And I've never had bad service. Every employee I have encountered has been so pleasant, I believe they truly love working there. Five stars all the time, every time!!

We eat here all the time after my husband's medical stuff. It's good, relatively inexpensive, and if we're hit the right time they have a senior special.

I only am giving it for stars because my ribs were rather scrawny this time out. They tasted fine and the service was its usual excellent self, but normally I can only eat half of them and take the rest home. This time there was nothing left to take home. Probably was just one of those things.

First off, don't trust Google Maps to get you there. It will take you behind the building (where you can't pull in). You can turn in directly from Kingsley. The four of us stopped in on Sunday for lunch, and were seated right away. The server was very helpful and attentive. We ordered a Family Feast, and we took A LOT of food home with us. BIG portions of chicken and ribs (a little stingy on the brisket, unfortunately). The slaw was great, baked beans were really good, and the cornbread biscuits were AMAZING. It would have been a 5-star rating, but we weren't allowed to substitute turkey...AND WE WANTED TURKEY. Other than that, it was delicious, and the prices were fair for the amount of food you get.
