Proper Grit

Pretty good food and drinks but highly overpriced... I realize the restaurant and bar are inside of a new and nice hotel, but the prices should reflect the area and downtown West Palm has far too many great places to go to make paying this much more worth it, especially because the food and drinks are good, but not “out of this world” good. There’s a cool upstairs bar - great views! The drink menu is the same as downstairs but they are not made even close to the same way. Some consistency from the bartenders would go a long way. My old fashioned downstairs was very good and the same one I ordered upstairs was either made by someone who didn’t know what they were doing, didn’t care, or thought I just wanted straight bourbon.

The environment was nice minus the bees. The Ben Burger was tasty with a nice sweet and savory element to it. The only down part was not having the apple french toast casserole. Otherwise it was a good outing.

Had an amazing time at Proper Grit! Great food(Short Rib and the Bread Pudding Dessert were the best) and amazing drinks! Dan, one of the bartenders was incredible and Nick made sure everything was perfect! We can't wait to go back.

Highly recommend. We had a terrible experience at their sister restaurant at the top of the Ben, Spruzzo and Nick from Proper Grit turned our entire night around. Thank you Nick and Lindsey for hearing us out, providing us with extra customer service. We appreciate you saving the night for us. My friends and I came here for my Bachlorette for dinner and the food was amazing and our service was great. The place is beautiful and although The Ben is a newer hotel and it seems like all restaurants in there may be struggling when it comes to service, I can say that after reading the previous reviews, Nick and Lindsey are ensuring that Proper Grit is coming along very nicely. Food, service, the atmosphere was all wonderful and I would highly recommend. Our servers that night were wonderful as well (I totally forgot to get their names) 9/12 @ 9pm. They were great!
