Absolutely delighted by the genuine Nigerian flavors at 1738 African Grill! The goat Egusi vanished in no time, a true testament to its deliciousness. While the grilled red snapper was a bit overcooked and dry, my choice to skip the usual pepper sauce might be a factor. Despite this, the authenticity of the dishes makes it a worthwhile experience. However, the portion sizes seem a bit mismatched with the prices. Nevertheless, I wholeheartedly recommend this spot for anyone craving authentic Nigerian cuisine!

Clean and well organized place. Service was great and quick. I ordered egusi and i could tell it was fresh. I thoroughly enjoyed my lunch. Thank you for the great experience.

I want to give 3.5 stars but that’s not an option. On one hand - the food is pretty good. We ordered: Oxtail pepper soup (pictured), Suya, Jollof rice with goat meat, Meat pie. Total about $70 bucks.
All meats were well seasoned and tender which is a plus. I only have a picture of the pepper soup because I was so shocked with the lack of actual soup when I opened it I had to take a picture and send to my Nigerian mother. For $28 I expected to get more than 3 or 4 spoonfuls of liquid- the bowl was barely a quarter of the way filled. I’m fine with the amount of oxtail that came with it, but it was just barely any soup to consume, so that was pretty disappointing.
Second - I placed my order over the phone and the first question I asked was if the meat pie had potatoes, carrots or onions in it and the waitress replied “only onions” well when I bit into it - it was only carrots. Thankfully I’m not allergic, but I wouldn’t have ordered it if I knew there were carrots in it. Jollof rice was just “ok” and there was only 2 small pieces of goat meat included. Generally I think the portions sizes are a bit small for the price, but at least the food tastes decent.

I'm always on the lookout for good ethnic cuisine, so to my amazement, I see an African restaurant opening near Hiram. Keeping my expectations within reason, I have to say food was good overall. So far, my favorite dish is the Egusi Stew w/ Fufu.... Yummy! They also have some American style entrees. Staffers were friendly and patient. So if you have questions on menu items, ask away. Plenty of indoor seating available for any party size. An outdoor area is available too. Atmosphere is a chill energetic vibe while music from current afrobeat artists play in the background. Portion sizes are plentiful.
