I've been meaning to try this place for a while and finally got the opportunity today. My son had the braised turkey wings. I am not a fan of turkey, but they wings were cooked and seasoned to perfection. I ordered salmon, it was beautifully cooked but lacking in seasoning. For sides we had mac and cheese, sauteed spinach, collard greens and dirty rice. All of the sides had something special that took them over the top and made them especially delicious. I cook from scratch all the time so it is hard to impress me with restaurant food. However, DiasPora will now be my go-to place for FRESH, made-from-scratch meals. The service was also top-notch.
My family and I sampled the shrimp and grits, fried catfish and shrimp basket with red beans and rice as well as their gumbo. We enjoyed everything and will definitely be back soon! Thank you for serving our community with friendly faces, delicious food and authentic New Orleans style flair!
The food is AMAZING!!! I ordered a Po Boy with fries and macaroni cheese & was in HEAVEN! The macaroni was rich and creamy. The shrimp was seasoned to perfection. I'm going back for lunch YESTERDAY!!!
Last weekend I visited the DiasPora Kitchen for the first time. I will definitely go back. The staff were very friendly and the food was very good. I ordered the ox tails, macaroni and cheese, and greens. Tasty! Ready to go back and try the gumbo.
I had the Whiting plate, with macaroni and collard greens. I was impressed with the presentation because they added green garnish to the dish, usually found in bistro style restaurants. My macaroni had long stretchy layers of cheese as I stuck my Fork into it and blew me away! ???? I like the texture of the breading that they use for the Whiting, it had the perfect crunch. Most importantly, Chef Dallas was very friendly and personable. I have been a fan of this place ever since.
