“I was very happy when this restaurant opened, but after eating here several times I don't feel as enthusiastic about it. The food tastes good but the service is lacking. The one time I sat down and ate, I waited an hour for my food and it was room temp when I got it, and the place wasn't even busy. The other times I ordered takeout, thankfully it was always hot but they always leave something out of my order, so I suggest opening everything and checking before you give them your money. Not fulfilling your customers orders and taking their money is not good business practice.”

“So we have visited the states a couple of times and we were introduced to this place, we were made very very welcome by the staff and customers alike. If you have the opportunity to stop and take refreshments I would highly recommend you do so you will most definitely not be disappointed. I’d love to be more of a regular there but we are English and live in Worcestershire England ….it’s a bit to far for a taxi home! 10/10 from us .”

“Good food & great service! The prices are very good for the quantity & quality of the food. We went there to try the buffet because we have been saying for several years, that it would be great to have such a buffet. But do to covid, there's no buffet. ☹ but I still recommend this place to everyone! Very helpful & friendly service. Clean & cozy atmosphere....we very much enjoyed our little visit & will be back. I'm really hoping that they are able to bring the buffet back before long!! 😁”

“5 stars because they are a small business who choose to be open and provide food for customers. Phoned in an order and was given about a 10-15 time frame. Paid for our food and sat out in the parking lot a d enjoyed a freshly made hot lunch. My wife had a Ruben sandwich and I has the homemade hand breaded pork tenderloin and fresh cut fries. So very good. If you anyway near here definitely stop by and enjoy the food & drink.”

“We wandered back and forth inside looking for someone to seat us. There weren't any customers or staff to be found. Just as we were going to ring the bell, waitress stood up from behind the counter. She did not appear to be happy to be working, although we did our best to make her smile. The taco salad was smaller than what I am use to seeing. The beef was a bit salty, it didn't have beans...I would compare it to a Taco Bell tostada salad. They also, for some reason were waiting on their liquor license, so we were unable to order a margarita (or any other alcohols that were listed in the menu). Good points were the chips, salsa and rice.”

“The biscuits were hot and fresh. The 3 stars are the result of the extremely slow service. I received my coffee and then they closed the drive thru window. No one said anything about a delay so I knocked on the window after several minutes. I assumed that the server forgot my food. The server came to the window to see what was wrong. I told her I did not get my food and she replied "I know, we are waiting on biscuits." It would have been helpful if she told me that when I got my coffee. Anyway, the food was very hot and fresh but took way too long.”

“UPDATE: It looks like they've fired that horrible girl. I noticed that there is a new girl in there they're training, I've been served by her twice now and each time she greets me with a smile and gets right to making my sandwich. I'm so happy I can come back here and eat again! Thank you! ********************************************* I've been going to this location for some time now and have never encountered a problem with service before but one of the employee's has changed that and for some reason this girl is always there when I but food. Today my boyfriend and I walked in around 1:20p.m. on 4-14-19, only to find this skinny little girl, with her grumpy little face and her hair piled on her head, laying on a table in the drive-thru, playing on her phone. She was so obviously put out that she had to get up and do her job. Many times we've been told by her that they are out of toppings because she's to lazy to go get more. Not only is she bad at customer service but she can't seem to make a good sandwich to save her life. I'm not sure if I'll be going back since the Depot and Casey's are right there. The only reason I gave this place a 3 star, is because of the young lady, who was unfortunate enough to have to work a shift with such a rude and unfriendly person, but who was friendly to us and wished us a good day.”

“Friendly staff. Stopped in for breakfast. Had the breakfast horseshoe. Plenty of food. Some other review have said the place looked rundown. Not sure what they're talking about. Maybe they should stay closer to the interstate and and only stop at chain restaurants. This place is a great little roadside diner. If you're adventuresome, try the Clydesdale horseshoe. It's triple the meat, 6 eggs, 4 slices of toast, and way more fries and cheese.”

“Talk about a hidden gem. it's very hard to get a good meal in West-Central IL. Jacksonville is full of terrible dining options, but I don't always like to go all the way over to Springfield. The Ashland Diner seems to be just the ticket. The quality and taste of the food was excellent and the prices were very reasonable. Under $2 for a drink and the special on the day we went was something like a Pork Tenderloin, Fries and a Soda for 7.99 which multiple people at my table enjoyed. The menu is pretty broad but not overwhelming and a quick scan revealed prices on all the menu items to be on the low side of average. I had one of the better Horseshoes outside of Springfield and it was only $8.99 for a full shoe. Seating was comfortable, even for fatties (like me) and the serving staff was polite and attentive. I will update if I have a different experience, but for now, I would rate this a must try. If Ashland seems to far for "just a meal" it's worth noting they are right across the street from the never disappointing Jones Meats, who sell what are very likely the best brats anywhere along with other old-world butcher items. Certainly stop in there while you are in town.”
