The food here was very good and seemed authentic. There was a variety of sauces on the table, and it made the pho delicious.
Got the pumpkin curry with chicken, it was really good and not expensive, especially considering the downtown Champaign location. The spring rolls were fresh and tasty too. Will definitely go back!
My wife is "discerning" in her words (awfully selective in my words) when it comes to Thai flavors. And she has finally found the place that rivals or beats the great flavors of our favorite Thai restaurant in southwestern IL where we used to live. And that place is Sticky Rice in Champaign.
Thai restaurants tend to be awfully similar in many cases, except for sauce flavors. The real headline here is that the flavor at Sticky Rice is incredibly flavorful and well, awesome.
I had the Pad Wood Sen (#32 priced at $10). A very flavorful generous portion of thin bean noodles stir-fried with eggs, carrots, celery, bean sprouts, onions, and garlic in a brown sauce.
In my wife's words, "A lot of places can't seem to get that brown sauce right." Sticky Rice sure does, and great ingredients. We'll be back and we hope the place remains in business for a long time.
My wife and I thoroughly enjoyed our dinner! I had to try the Pho, while my wife tried the tom kha. They were gracious to substitute the chicken out for tofu. We finished the evening with their sticky rice dessert, a great suggestion, considering the mango and homemade coconut ice cream! We look forward to visiting again. Great people there!
I absolutely loved Sticky Rice !!! We had the shrimp blanket for an appetizer and the pumpkin curry soup and the Lao curry soup (with vermicelli noodles) it was delicious and full of flavor! The sticky rice desert with the custard and mango (2 different options) was amazing ! Service was friendly, helpful, and attentive! I am from Springfield and used to authentic Thai food, I have been to four different places in Champaign since moving and Sticky Rice by far exceeds my expectations! The decor and energy is comfortable! MY NEW FAVORITE SPOT !!! Can't wait to come back and try more menu options!
