It has a wierd consistency and tastes a little strange. I don't see striations that I would expect chicken to have. I went online and learned about 'plastic chicken' being sold to a lot of fast food Chinese restaurants. The Chicken turned me off. I'll only order vegetables from now on!”

“Staff seemed friendly, but def know their regulars & are privy to them. (Very chatty & always by them). Kept forgetting my drinks. (2 different servers). The two I did get were extremely light on vodka. I switched to a pop. Yep...had to ask again cause...they forgot that too. Then water which I never got at all. Would've given less stars, but see they normally get good reviews, so maybe it was just "one of those days". We all have them. Altho if it happened at my business, I'd at least of compensated with a free drink.”

“It's not the most beautiful place in the world, but the food makes up for it! This is a breakfast/brunch type of place. The selection of flavors is definitely chef-inspired. My chicken and waffles were cooked to perfection and the chicken was very flavorful. My daughter had a soul food skillet which she really enjoyed. It had fried collard greens, mashed sweet potatoes, macaroni and cheese, and 2 eggs. I'll probably get this dish next time! My 15 year old granddaughter had eggs and waffles and she ate every bite! I want some now! Yum! Yum!”

“El Cortez is my go to Mexican restaurant in the area. My family and I have been coming here for decades. I've tried other places, but always come back to El Cortez. The chips and salsa are the best. I don't know what they do, but they are awesome every time. You can tell the salsa is made fresh as there are some variences in the spice level depending on the day. Always delicious though. The fajitas and enchiladas are my top dishes, and they have many other wonderful options. The portions are good in size for the price point. I always have leftovers.”

“Let me start by saying this is not the same Maxx Grille. These are new owners and have only been here 2mos. That being said,This place is really good! The food is excellent with a unique menu. There are some favorites with their unique spin on it from jerk fried rice to jerk pizza. Everything is full of flavor including the turkey tips, jerk chicken and homemade tasting fried chicken. Always served hot and freshly made. The staff is also amazing, the couple that is running the place and the cashier have wonderful customer service skills, they make you feel like family. My husband and I went for the first time 3days ago and have been back everyday since. The all around service here draws you back. I am sending all my friends and family here to this hidden gem in the South Burbs.”
