Al's Beef

This place is so good and the service was quick. Staff was nice and friendly with a smile on their face. Can't wait to go back again.

Service was quick and got my meal to me quickly. Food itself was okay, I had a big beef but that's all I should have had. Fries were bland and tasteless. Should have grabbed salt because these needed it. Spent $15 on one sandwich and fries just so I could I remember why I haven't been to Al's in years.

Beef itself was alright. As others have said, it's ridiculous that they charge for peppers and even then there was not enough giardiniera on my sandwich. Meat was good and the bread was good too and the size of the sandwich was decent which it better be since it cost near $11. The best beefs I've had are usually from hole in the wall independent places that just seem to be disappearing more and more making it harder and harder to find a good beef. Want a really good beef? Go to Fabulous Freddie's on 21st near sox baseball field, but if you can't make it out there Al's is okay albeit overpriced.

Also don't order the fries, go literally anywhere else for fries.

This location isn't as great as the other locations in terms of flavor of beef and the gravy.. however on this same most recent visit the fries were really great and better than any other location I've had.. still remains a Chicago staple and a must try at least once in life. My order: regular Al, hot peppers, cheese sauce, double dipped

There's Al's Beef...then there's AL'S BEEF! This is the latter. Want proof? Check the reviews. Any one star without a picture to support their claims is probably a lie. Also notice that the local guides and frequent posters are all consistently at 4 or more stars. Yeah this place is awesome. I don't exactly what they're doing but they are consistently better than any of the other locations I've been too as well. They also have more stuff on their menu that most places don't have so there's something for everyone and the desserts are delicious! You want the best beef sandwich and fry's in town? Go here!
