Visiting Chicago from the Bay Area and have dined at plenty of Michelin starred restaurants (ie, Lazy Bear SF). Valhalla is unquestionably in that league. The food was impeccably conceived and prepared and the service was personal and attentive while not being obtrusive. The ambiance is a bit different than a trad fine dining experience but we loved the buzzy vibe of the market below and the indie music soundtrack (LCD soundsytem paired well with the octopus for some reason). The wine pairings were complementary but in my opinion stay with the Valhalla pairing as the premier pairing, while nice, didn’t go levels beyond the standard pairing. Finally, the infinite desserts is a nice touch and they were amazing and creative. The pastry chef came to the table and simply said tell me what you want and it will happen. The staff clearly respect the chef/owner and seem likewise to be respected. Enjoy this place, Chicago, it has creativity and soul that keeps your city amazing. Cheers!
Only came for desserts and we are so glad that we did! we were completely mind blown! The culinary talent behind this team is absolutely unreal! Get everything lol and the cocktails are delicious too! Have to come back and try the tasting menu one day too!
AMAZING EXPERIENCE AT VALHALLA and the deep explanation as of why this fine restaurant was named like this can’t be more unique as well as the staff. Incredibly profesional and passionate. Everything was delicious from the tasting menu. I still can’t choose which one was my favorite thing on the menu, because everything from the grilled octopus to the Wagyu arrachera and the infinite (literally) options of desserts were excellent! The owner and main executive chef owns other 2 restaurants that I can’t wait to check out!
High tea for Mother's Day was exceptional. The food was delicious and service was amazing. Even leading up, I was contacted to check for dietary restrictions and seating preferences. You really notice the attention to detail and feel cared for; they even a card for mom. The space is also very unique and beautiful. This was such a fun experience. Need to come back for dinner. I highly recommend checking out Valhalla and/or chef Stephen's restaurants.
The tasting menu was superb! We enjoyed everything. Service, led by Lauren, and presentation was amazing. The Valhalla wine pairing was a great accompaniment to dinner. Out of all of the amazing food we had, we were surprised that the maltake mushroom kebab was our favorite.
