Lauretta's Italian Bake Shop & Cafe

I want to preface this by saying that I think this new location is still getting their feet under them, so I will give them another chance at a later date! I think there is a lot of potential here, and things were only not perfect because they are not used to the volume of orders they're getting here in Grayslake. I think when they get the system down, now that they're trying to be a take-out place, they'll be very good.

I honestly felt bad when I went in to order, the workers were obviously harried. They said they were not answering the phone anymore because they were so behind. It was ringing off the hook. They obviously wanted to be doing a good job and were just overwhelmed, so I feel for them. They were still really nice to me even though things were crazy.

Had the Fig and Prosciutto sandwich -- there was an enormous amount of fig, but only a little bit of prosciutto and goat cheese. I had to scrape most of the fig off, there was a LOT of it. But the order was correct, and the idea was sound, so I give them credit for that. The bagel chips and dip were fine.

I had the tiramisu as well and it was very good!

I hope they figure out a system for being a take out place, and maybe hire some more kitchen staff. They are getting enough business here for it to be worth it!

Fabulous staff, incredible homemade pasta and sauces…better than most high end Italian restaurants, Old World Italian Bakery items and warm and friendly ambiance. Great place to gather with friends and or family!

Food is phenomenal as it has been in their Mundelein location. The lack of seating makes for a small disappointment upon arrival and parking is atrocious. I hope they can provide more seating for the future!

Great food nice menu selection they have a wood fired oven and a traditional one. They are going to serve wine but do not yet. Rate it 5 stars in food quality and service. Ambience is designed to eat outside or carry out only which is the one drawback it’s like eating 5 star Italian food out of take home styrofoam containers. So you carry it out take it home and then replate it for dinner. Wish they had a small area that you could eat inside and enjoy nice bottle of wine and get your food served on plates. It’s like having a really nice steak at McDonald’s it just wouldn’t feel right. Also had a nice selection of assorted cookies and fresh baked bread and things to take home.

We just tried their new Grayslake location and had a fabulous experience. The food was delicious, fresh and hot. The mussels in a garlic white wine sauce was to die for! Excited to have them right around the corner!
