“Inside, this Applebee's is pretty much what you expect from the chain. The wait staff was pleasant, accommodating, and efficient. Food was good, but took a little longer than I'd like to arrive. Watching sports on TV is good, and the staff accommodates game changes. Outside the restaurant, no fault of the establishment, is a war-zone of potholes in the adjacent mall parking lot. Go slow!”

Prices are so low, you're going to think they're a misprint. The people behind the register actually seem like they're enjoying life and would genuinely like to feed you. Like most independent restaurants in small towns that actually survive and thrive, the building isn't much to look at. My advice, if you need a pretty building to eat in, is just close your eyes. Keep 'em closed. Good. Their fries are incredible, haven't ever had a bad meal or regretted stopping. Portions are generous. Well worth the short drive off the interstate.”

“After spending some time closed, this establishment has returned under new ownership. It currently has bar service only, no food. Please don't let that stop you, however, from visiting this gorgeous venue a few steps from the Mendota Amtrak station. The wide open space with tons of ambiance is available for events, and you get the benefit of a personable bartender who seems truly interested in helping make things perfect. Personally, I had the biggest pour of Pinot I've ever seen for the most reasonable price I've ever paid, and my husband thoroughly enjoyed his Stella (on tap). We will definitely be back.”
