Very cool little place
A very unique but WONDERFUL place I have ever been to! To go inside and see all the antiques stuffed animals and birds was amazing and the malts were GREAT!
Granted that it wasn't a 5-star establishment, but I took my sister, brother-in-law and niece there the day after Thanksgiving, and the experience was pleasant. If you are afraid of animals preserved by taxidermy, this is not for you. But for those who are outdoorsy types, it is an interesting place to visit. I've been to what can be considered "better" eating establishments, paying lots more money and getting comparable, if not worse service.
My family and I have been there numerous times, and have not gotten sick from the food. My wife is not even an outdoors type, but enjoys the occasional visit. If you want a luxury experience, you need to go back to the big city. This is a small out of the way town. An experience.
The prices may be a bit steep, but not unreasonable. As an added benefit, you can enjoy the hiking trail, just walking distance from the Root Beer Saloon. Nobody is forced to eat there.
Bottom line: If you like eclectic, and are not put off by taxidermy, it is worth the visit. Otherwise, you may want to go somewhere else more "shiny".
I love this place and stop every time I am in the area. Don't mind the bad reviews made by people that don't like taxidermy. If you don't like taxidermy, don't go, but that's not an objective reason to give it 1 star. If you like Root Beer, eclectic décor, motorcycles, etc. you will like this place. It's very unique.
