The Prewitt Restaurant + Lounge

My wife and I had a wonderful night at The Prewitt and were able to catch Chad "Crooner" Brown for the night's entertainment. The elevated stage setup works very well for live entertainment. We started out at the top bar while waiting for our table to be cleaned off, ordering a Sweet But Not Too Sweet and a Smoke on the Water cocktail. The presentation of Smoke on the Water was very nice, but I personally preferred the flavor of SBNTS which will likely be my new favorite here. For appetizers we had the oysters (East and West Coast) as well as the short rib spring rolls. The oysters were ok, if a bit pricey for what you get ($18 for half dozen). The spring rolls were very tasty and super tender. Next time we will try the duck meatballs. For entrées we had lamb shank and duck porchetta. The duck was very nice but the winner tonight for outstanding savory flavor was the lamb shank. We will absolutely be ordering that again. We ordered a flight of beers including a nice porter and 2 IPAs. The flight comes with an assortment of sweet and spicy nuts to snack on and is served in a movie reel. Very cool presentation. You don't receive much beer in the flight for the price ($15-$18), so if you know what you want, you're best off ordering a specific beer instead or stick with the great cocktails.

For dessert we opted for the Stickyfoot, an homage to the notorious Village theater floor for those of us old enough to remember seeing movies here. This consists of date bread pudding covered in whiskey anglaise, topped with Prewitt's own carmel popcorn icecream. Delicious! Highly recommended!

Overall we had a great experience with live music, friendly service (front of house manager Carson in particular was extremely helpful and efficient), and great ambience that can't be matched at any location in or near Plainfield. If you are looking to impress, this is a go-to, date night location.

I hate being the first 3 star, but I was super disappointed with our experience. I ordered the Sirloin Trio, it came out luke warm, and I didn't like the flavor so I only ate the mashed potatoes. I did tell the waitress I didn't like it, and she asked if I wanted dessert. My wife had the 1/2 chicken and it was pretty good. I got the Prewitt old fashioned and it was GREAT. When our food came out they "auctioned it off to us, like a dinner". Super cool atmosphere. Our total bill was $250, for 2 people with app, drinks, dinner and a dessert(because I was still hungry). We will be back for cocktails and an appetizer.. But not dinner.

As someone who lives outside of the Plainfield area, this restaurant is 100% worth the drive. Prewitt has an incredible atmosphere and an even better menu. The food and drinks have so much flavor. They are well staffed and the service is exceptional. I keep coming back and cannot stop recommending to friends and family. Whenever I have people visiting from out of town this is my go-to place to make a reservation to impress. If you are questioning whether or not to stop by or make a reservation, I promise you will not be disappointed. Prewitt is truly one of a kind.

We had a fantastic Brunch. The Lox Waffle was Cured Salmon and some fantastic (slightly spicy) cream cheese. The Royale with Cheese was really good burger with an egg on it. My wife downed two hot chocolates. The service was really good as well. I'll be coming back for dinner soon.

Finally an original upscale non-chain restaurant in Plainfield! A renovated single screen theater turned into a classy, upscale dining and cocktail experience. Two bars with one bar upstairs alone with an attractive outdoor sitting area.
The lunch menu is flavorful and full of variety, I had The Royale burger with a side of seasoned fries. Didn't have a chance to try the full page menu of cocktails, beers and wines but I will definitely be back, making this my new spot!
