Almost everything is made in house. The pickles were great, little bread and buttery with dill, onions and peppers. The server brought out mini biscuits with apple butter. If they sold it (not quite yet) my wife would have bought them out of stock. The shrimp and grits were really good and their fried chicken was moist and had great seasoning in the crispy crust. Will be returning soon.
Excellent Southern food is hard to find in the Upper Midwest. (Being born and raised in Florida, I can tell you this from bitter experience!) The Bantam Diner is terrific and authentic: everything is made from scratch. Try the fried chicken, collard greens, biscuits (with apple butter), and hush puppies. Casual and inviting inside: down to earth, unpretentious, with a simple focus on the food itself.
Bantam was a fantastic experience! Everything was amazing. Highly recommend the toast and bacon jam appetizer. The only letdown was the lack of other customers! I wish more people knew about this place. He totally deserves more recognition. Food was on point and will be going back soon.
This place is gold. Chef Dante and the crew produce some of the best food in town. The fried chicken (sandwich or entree) are amazing, and better than anything you can find locally (probably regionally). Other offerings similarly delight. An unpretentious environment, straight up genius food.
What a wonderful dinner! Shayla was our waitress and was very pleasant and helpful. I was very impressed with Donte, who has put together an excellent menu! All three dishes we ordered were fantastic with the bold flavors we had read about. Thank you for an excellent meal. We'll be back!
