Big Grove Brewery & Taproom

Met friends here for happy hour after work. Plenty of space for our large group to hang out on a Friday evening. A bit loud, as it's a large warehouse-like space, and it's all self-serve: get your own food and drink.

Just so fun...delicious food and incredible outdoor atmosphere. And dog friendly! A big plus if you are traveling through. Drinks were terrific.

We had an awesome first visit today and will be back for sure. Danny welcomed us as soon as we walked in and was very hospitable, ensuring we had the best experience possible. We came as we were passing through for lunch and a flight of beers. Each of the beers were well made and tasty and the food was excellent as well. Can't recommend enough for anyone looking for great beer and tasty food in a fun and interesting atmosphere. We sat on the patio and were impressed by all it had to offer.

An interesting place. A good place for groups and children. Outside they have this large place for children to run around, climb, and play. Their pretzel is huge and obviously cooked fresh. I highly recommend it. No table service, you have to collect your food and drink and clean up after yourself. For larger parties who want water, they have pitchers you can take and fill up yourself. The people are very friendly and the food (and drinks) are awesome. My only complaint would be the lack of parking, but this place is very popular. Would most likely come again.

One of my favorite places to go visit here in Iowa City! The atmosphere is fantastic with bold colored art, sharp design, and an amazing outdoor space along the river. Their revitalization of the old warehouse was well done. The menu has a wide selection of styles and offerings for any taste. I love their buttermilk chicken sandwich and fries! Definitely a good place for comfort food. Prices range from $6-12 for the entree and then a side item might cost $2-5, so your meal could easily end up between $15-20 if you’re hungry. While this is on the pricier side for the style of food, the atmosphere of Big Grove is just that good. You want to spend time there and hang out. The social aspect of it certainly sells this place. Also, I don’t drink, but I have always enjoyed being in there and can always get water or tea. There’s a lot more to Big Grove than just the brewery, so it is certainly family friendly too. If you’re in Iowa City, you MUST stop by Big Grove.
