“My first time trying this place out and I will say not bad. The food was ok. I thought the environment gave a pretentious Island vibe. I didn’t feel the menu really matched the ambiance. It seemed more of an American food establishment than “Island “ food establishment. Not crazy about their version of jerk chicken and I LOVE ME SOME CARRIBEAN FOOD. But I loved the coconut shrimp. I also enjoyed the Wing Zings. The cashier was friendly, polite, and very quick with my order. Great customer service! I do wish you well in the future with this new venture.”

“Amazing place!! The restaraunt is currently undergoing renovations but don't get caught up on those, you can still dine inside or out. The owner was extremely nice and explained everything on the menu we had questions about. I ordered the Asun (with lamb) and oh my goodness! It was very flavorful and had the right amount of spice (you get to pick your spice level as well)! It's official, I Love Fufu is a 10 out of 10 for me. Highly recommend and definitely will be back on my next business trip!”

“We ordered a couple of revuelta pupusas, a couple of garlic and cheese pupusas, a pork tamale, horchata and an order of plantains. The pupusas were small and not very flavorful. The sauce was just like strait tomato. They didn’t give very much repollo either. The tamale was authentic in that it had a large bone in it, but we didn’t really enjoy the flavor. Plantains were quite good actually. Best crema we’ve had in the US for sure! The horchata was also pretty tasty. Expect lower portions for the price and less flavor when compared with other pupuserias in the area. We much prefer El Gustitos.”

“This new local bar in Iowa City is what is needed to this city; a fusion of modern and classic rock. The decor and vibe is incredible and what is needed. The reason for the 3-stars out of 5 is the music. With the theme of this bar being rock, you would think that this bar would be playing only rock music. Instead, we were thrown into both rock and modern crap music that other bars in the city play. Along with that, 99% of the rock music played will not consist of its original version with it being a low-quality remix. Overall this bar has an incredible chance to change the bar scene in this city. The only thing they need to change is their music choices in order to fit its theme.”

“Iowa City’s coolest hotel. It’s out of town enough to be quiet and relaxing. The pool area offers table tennis and poolside dining and snacks, or sit outside in the courtyard and play on the giant chess set. Mid century modern vibe throughout is both cool and relaxing. Staff is extremely gracious and friendly. Ecological consciousness sets the Highlander apart from many corporate places. Truly a unique, independent hotel!”

“This is my third year out here at Iowa, and I am pretty impressed with this little pizza joint! It provides unique quality thin crust personal pizzas that are cooked in about five minutes. You can create your own pizza, but there are also pretty cool options like honey ham pizza. It's great for students who want their pizza fix, but can't wait half an hour for a pizza.”

“Our new favorite Indian place! The food is always amazing - it's obvious that the people who make it truly care about creating delicious food. One time, after we ordered from Chomp we got a call telling us that the restaurant was going to comp us our order of Pakora because it was too salty. I must admit, it was a tad bit salty, but I wouldn't have complained and we ate it all anyway. But that commitment to excellence really sold us on this place. I highly recommend you give it a try - especially the Pakora, which is one of our hands-down favorites.”
