Grumpy Goat Tavern - Ankeny

It has ok food. I would say it is pretty average. The service is quite good later at night. Bring cash though. They add an extra fee for paying with credit cards. Their alcohol selection is higher than average for a sports bar. I would say this is probably not a very comfortable place to bring your kids in later at night or when packed. There is very little booth seating on the bottom floor. They have an upper floor but I can not attest to what is up there.

The food and drinks were great but the service was the best part of the experience. We had one of the best servers ever named Molly. She was over to our table right after we were seated. She recommended some great drinks and we had them quickly. When it came to decide to order, you could tell she knew the menu and was able to answer any questions we had. Once the food came she checked back a few times to refill drinks and check on how our food was. She was so awesome, very personable and just an overall great server. Thanks for the experience and we can’t wait to return!

Great food and great atmosphere. Prices aren't too bad. Great beer options, especially all of the local choices. I absolutely love the mozzarella cheese cubes or whatever they're called. We recently went for brunch and my wife got the pancakes and they were delicious. I didn't utilize the bloody Mary, mimosa bar but that looked great.
