Unique menu with fresh flavors and something for everyone (probably not a vegetarian's utopia). Restaurant features a nice, casual drink menu with some great local microbrewery options. Bar service was a little slow on a Friday night (took over 15 min to get first round), but the drinks were made well and the options we chose were very tasty.
Appetizers are delicious, with several options. Take care, though: the portions are generous and will eat into your main course allocation if you aren't careful!
Main dish options are filling to say the least, with a nice range of different foods to satisfy almost anyone. We tried the polish dog and the grilled cheese, with sides of macaroni and cheese, broccolini, and potatoes. The grilled cheese is amazing, and big enough that I went home with half for leftovers. The polish is tasty, but there is a lot of bun. The Mac and cheese was good, but would have been even better with a topping like bread crumbs or bacon. Broccolini was delicious and well prepared. We were far too sated to have dessert, but the choices looked tasty.
Overall, the service is friendly but a bit slow on busy nights. The food comes out in an appropriate amount of time, and the options we chose were very good. Excited to come back in a month and try some additional menu options. Very excited for the summer and the opportunity to divert from a bike ride on the High Trestle Trail and stop in for lunch!
We tried Pig ‘n Pedal for the first time this week and it was awesome! Delicious menu options, clean environment, and super-friendly staff. We tried the wings and my husband said that this was now his new favorite wing spot in Ankeny - and that’s saying something! I tried the chips ‘n dip burger - it was the perfect combo of creamy, crunchy and juicy. A new favorite in Ankeny, for sure!
Our 1st experience last evening 12/22...and Pig & Pedal did not disappoint! Our party of 15 showed up, tables were shifted to seat us and the staff was so friendly. My quinoa salad was delicious and everyone else was satisfied with their meal (esp the 3 hungry kiddos). Awesome atmospheric here too. We will be back soon!

For the opening week, the food was excellent! Service was great :) Food came out speedy with nice presentation! I had the Blackberry Sage Margarita and it had a fantastic balance of sweet, tart, and tequila! I will definitely be coming back to try out more of their unique and delicious looking menu! ❤️❤️
