I really enjoyed this restaurant. It has the very genuine feeling of real people sharing their culture and food. It was very comfortable and welcoming with marvelous flavors and great cooking. I highly recommend it and will be back for sure. It IS a bit hard to find- they are still making a front sign which should improve find-ability. It is on the north side of Douglas Av. around 29th. Try it out!
The lamb (Hilib Ari) was very flavorful and the texture was great, which matched wonderfully with the aromatic rice (not your typical dry fare).
The Chicken Suqaar was in small pieces, with a lovely bright spice that combined well with the rice and salad (lettuce, onion, lemon).
The big winner was the spiced coffee - load it up with sugar and you got yourself a wonderful cuppa energy! The tea my sister got was also delicious (though pipping hot and already sweetened).
The lovely woman who has many decades of experience cooking is also very welcoming - she came out to check on us and we got a chance to learn more of the rich story.
[thumbs up if you'd like to try their coffee]
No frills place with delicious food. Had the most flavorful, juicy lamb with beautifully flavored rice. Generous positions. Can't wait to go back.
Exactly what I was looking for. Delicious food, friendly employees. All around great vibe. Had the beef and chicken with rice and hot teas. Went on Friday late so out of goat and lamb. But perfect experience.
Great food! The lamb melts in your mouth. The plate very generous portion with what looks like chapati cut into pieces (she called it something else I can't remember) with salad. Comes with a banana and a drink. For two plates was $20. No menu but the lady was very nice and they do accept cards.
