Dough Co. Pizza

Hey DSM! This pizza place is the the absolute best. We have ordered here only once before and it was absolutely phenomenal. Tonight, we ordered again and part of the pizza was not correct... so we called back and it was about closing time and explained that we didn’t receive our pizza right. The gentleman that answered was awesome! He literally offered to deliver us a new pizza or refund us! That is WOW service...How above and beyond can a business get with everything going on in 2020? Everyone is always super nice and quick! The food is amazing. My favorite is the Pepporoni Popper Pizza. The crust is amazing and the toppings are spicy but perfect! My husband is a vegan and loves their new Vegan Taco pizza and their Vegan Grinder. So glad you came to the area!

I used to live in New York City, and I’ve been looking for the best New York slice in Des Moines and this restaurant comes close. However, I think this new restaurant still has much room for improvement. I have eaten here twice, and both times I feel like the pizzas have an insufficient quantity of tomato sauce with a high cheese to sauce ratio, resulting in a rather dry slice of pizza. On my second trip I asked for extra sauce on the pizza, but the pizza was still quite dry and lacked sauce. The sauce itself, the crust, the cheese, and toppings are all very tasty and good quality, however they are very stingy with the tomato sauce. I give this place a 3-Star rating a result. If they use more sauce then I think this place has the potential for a 5-star rating. The crust is excellent, and definitely the closest to a true NY Slice in DSM, IA.

I had Papa Keno's once recently prior to its closing and enjoyed it, so I was intrigued to hear Dough Co. was replacing it (with the same ownership). I was happy to find the pizza was even better than before; if you enjoy New York style pizza, this place is worth a shot. This will certainly be my go-to pizza place going forward.

For reference, I got an 18-inch NY style pizza (half
half pepperoni, half Italian sausage), 10 buffalo wings, and the garlic bread/bites. Pizza was phenomenal, wings were great for a pizza place, and the garlic bites were much more flavorful than the equivalent when it was Papa Keno's. If you like ranch with your pizza/wings/garlic bread, be sure to try it here (it was delicious). Overall, a great eating experience and I'm excited to try some of their other offerings & specialty pizzas next time.
