    Well, yes it is 'new' and I miss the old buffet.
    It appears that they are trying to position themselves as a higher end Chinese restaurant here in Des Moines.

    Been going to the former buffet since 1994 and this is a significant change. Gone is the dingey 'hole in the wall' Chinese restaurant that was a favorite for many. The buffet was always good and kept well stocked.

    Everything on the menu now is a la carte and towards the higher end price wise.

    Service was haphazard and rushed. The server brought over the paper mat and silverware and just placed it at the end of the table.

    Wife ordered her favorite, beef & broccoli. The beef was rubbery and the dish didn't have that great of a flavor.
    I ordered the hot and spicy chicken, it was packed with onions and had a very nice heat to it and the flavor was incredible.

    Based on this experience here and the one last week at China Chef on SW9th, we'll choose China Chef.

    The hot pot we got were so full of seafood, meat and veggies. The taste of the soup is alike Chinese style soup.Good customer services. Good parking lot. Highly recommended. We will come back again!

    New design looks good. Food comes fast and tastes great. Will come again!

    Staff is polite and you are seated promptly. I usually get the mushu veggies which is a great deal for the money. One of the best places in this area to get a very good meal for under ten dollars.
