“The new owners did a fantastic job of updating the restaurant, it looks amazing inside and out. We did carry out and when we got home it was still hot and fresh. We chose the almond encrusted chicken tenders for an appetizer and they were SO good. Perfectly crunchy almond & corn flake crust plus homemade ranch and honey mustard for dipping. My husband ordered the prime and crown sandwich & I got the crown chicken melt. Fries and garlic mashed potatoes for our sides, both of which were tasty. We’ll definitely be back.”

“Amazing Sunday dinner at "The Corn Patch." Right on HWY 44 in Grimes, IA., easily accessible from anywhere in the Des Moines metro area. Spotlessly clean, friendly hometown eatery with a little lounge attached you could come to with your kids. Nicely seasoned and simmered homemade potato soup and bread to start with every meal. Today's special was all-you-can-eat fried chicken. Saw a plateful walking to another table and had to have it. Perfectly golden-brown, batter was light with just enough crunch, piping hot with not even a hint of oiliness. I generally go for the dark meat, particularly with fried chicken, but the breast was every bit as tender and juicy as the thighs and drums. With "Dennie fries" (homemade potato wedges), salad and a great cup of coffee, it was a fabulous Sunday dinner for about $14. I asked for an extra thigh for dessert. The waitress brought me two and asked if I wanted some cheesecake to go with it. She could have been flirting, I never know anymore, but my wife would have said something. Just a really great country meal. If you're on the west side of Des Moines headed for Cracker Barrel, keep heading west another 15-20 minutes and go here instead. You'll thank me later.”

“Always great food. Today my dish was a little cool in the middle, leading me to believe, with the combination of the piping hot plate, that this is pre made and reheated. Although still delicious, a little disappointing. We had the pot stickers for an appetizer. They were alright. My kid loved them. The chicken parm was pretty good. Usually our server packs our take home for us. Today we had a different one. She basically put our boxes on the table and left. My review is based off of today's experience. Honestly, it should be lower, but I guess the track record of delicious food and great service has me feeling generous. If I weren't so exhausted from moving, I would have complained about my dish. But I was famished and just wanted to get home and relax.”
