“Its Friday July 3rd at 6:30pm and the lady working made FRESH coffee! It was made when I walked in, but I just appreciated it so much. Most places leave it sitting all day. Also I didn't get the workers name, but she is an awesome employee! She was so helpful and polite! I would also like to add how clean it is!”

“This is definitely a great local spot to eat at! The food is definitely high-quality, & I really enjoyed my hot tenderloin! The gravy was homemade, tenderloin hand breaded & potatoes were real! The inside is very nice, with tv's all over to watch a game & with the old pictures of Highland on the walls! The staff was very friendly, & gave us plenty of time to order! This isn't your typical local spot! The food is a definite step above your local diner food! A+”

“Overall a good first experience. Diner appears to be newly open and renovated. Service was quick and friendly. My burger was good, but not great. I could tell the onion rings were from the box, not homemade. My wife really enjoyed her taco salad. My strawberry milkshake was handmade with real ice cream, so that was nice to see. Biggest con - the bathrooms smelled like sewer and weren't that clean.”

“I’ve been gluten-free for 10+ years. Never thought I would get to eat another amazing cinnamon roll again. Not good… Great! I buy them at Hy-Vee in Kansas City Missouri off of Barry Road. They come frozen, I heat them up in the microwave and add some butter… They’re absolutely amazing! Must try, they are worth the price!”

“Please like my review if you find it helpful. Nice little restaurant/bar in the small town of Troy. Not far from St Joe, Highland, Hiawatha, Atchison or surrounding areas. My name is Troy and I have driven past signs showing direction to Troy but never turned down. You do have to go on the VIA county road to get there... But just a short couple miles. Well... I sure am glad I did. I rolled in yesterday in my work van about noon. 1 car, a JEEP, in the lot. A lady on the covered patio greeted me with a smile and followed me in. I think I was the first straggler in for lunch. Pictures will show the place was empty, but that didn't last long. A few more guys came in for lunch while I was there even one for take out. I don't get uncomfortable in strange places but they obviously knew I wasn't from the area. The place is nice... I almost missed it though... Had to turn around and go back to it. It's a Morton type building but done up nice inside. Clean and we'll set up for a small place. The menu is very extensive... Good selection that should meet most people's likes. Matches their website well. I like how the website also shows the prices which I thought were pretty good. Ok... Down to the food. I ordered the Mushroom Swiss burger. All burgers come with crinkle cut fries. You can option for other types of fries or tots or onion rings for an up charge. All but one burger are 1/2 pound or bigger. Good God.... It was good. I would have liked a bit of sloppy sauce with the shrooms... But the burger was big... Juicy... Cooked just right at medium/well. The shrooms were meaty and flavorful and always love swish cheese. Bun was hearty but would have preferred toasted with butter. What would I change? Well besides the toaster bun part... Really nothing... I couldn't even finish it all... Hell I finished the burger... but I had to force myself to stop eating the fries so I could because they give you like a pound of fries. All in all... I'm glad I went to Troy and went to Rookies. One of the best all around small town places I've been to eat. Check out the photos that also include the Daily specials board. Tap beer is limited to Busch and Miller... One of each. Bottles are most common beers... Didn't have my Boulevard Wheat that I love with a burger. Seemed to have a great selection of liquor behind the counter. I look forward to returning and trying some different food... Maybe on a weekend to see how Troy Kansas kicks it on the fun nights.”

“I ate the big tenderloin and I'm happy about that choice. Unlike some other tenderloin places, where the crispy batter falls off on the first bite, this one was huge, and not once did the batter fall off. The Dairy Barn tenderloin batter was pressed into the pork meat so that is unable to fall off. Plus, it was flattened with the precision of a street roller and that offered a pancake-flat result. Had a basket of fries that I shared with my wife. She had the hamburger. Both of us enjoyed the time we spent at the Dairy Barn and will be coming back next time we pass through St Joe.”

“Oh man, this place is awesome! Recently remodeled dining area is flat cool. I love the custom tables & chairs. The designer did an outstanding job ? The menu was a tough choice, so many options I am looking forward to in the future ?? I had the"Make you Sweat" chicken, oh so tasty... Not real hot though, You can handle it ?? I will be back for a Margarita ? Great job guys!!”
