Excellent cuts of meat and exemplary customer service. Every time.
Great find. We were looking for something different from our usual places and happened to find this one on the map. With so many 5 star reviews, we thought we couldn't go wrong. And that is what we found.
We stopped in on Saturday afternoon and were greeted by friendly, helpful people. We explained that we hadn't been in before and wanted to check them out. The gentleman who helped us explained that they sold out of their baby back ribs (evidently they sell out quickly), but had some burnt ends, pulled pork, and spare ribs left.
We opted for a couple of pulled pork sandwiches, baked beans, cheesy corn, and mac & cheese. The quantity of food we got for the price was more than we expected (certainly more than some of the well-known bbq joints around).
We believe the bread was baked on-site. It had a "homemade" flavor and texture. A great change from the processed taste of other breads. They seem to use a brown sugar base for their bbq sauce and baked beans instead of vinegar, so if you like the sweeter taste, this is what you want. The cheesy corn and mac & cheese were their own spin and both were good. The baked beans had nice chunks of meat and a savory/sweet flavor.
We surveyed the meat display and noted quite a few good looking cuts of meats, stuffed potatoes, and some store-made sausages.
I spoke to a lady who was waiting for a Reuben and asked if they were any good. She said they were delicious. Although I'm not a Reuben person, I know someone who is a self-proclaimed expert, so we'll be back to test out the Reuben as well as to pick up some of those sausages and cuts of meat.
They also have a selection of hot and cold sandwiches on their menu, so we'll need to work our way through those as well.
Highly recommended for a smaller shop, friendly people, great food, and great value.
Jut had their Ruben. Probably the best in the area and I know my Rubens. Will definitely be back.
I'd give them 10/5 stars if I could. I'll get to the meat in a bit, but the first thing people should know is that these people are extremely nice and really focused on treating people well. I've come in right as they're closing and they don't act put out to take care of one more customer. I've asked if they have any more of a certain cut and even though they're at the end of the day, they'll cut a few more.
On top of their amazing customer friendly approach, their food is just great. Their cream corn has this amazing smoky flavor - and now just writing this review, my mouth is watering. Tonight, I bought their prime sirloins and grilled them for the family. THEY WERE THE BEST STEAKS I'VE HAD IN A YEAR!!! Yeah, tonight I set my weight loss goals back by a week at least but I regret nothing.
Highly recommend. Bought two excellent filets. So tender. If you go there, you must try the Reuben. A pound of lean pastrami. It's enormous! Enough for a couple of meals. Check these guys out.
