Bates City BBQ of Shawnee

Great place down the road from where I used to live. Not a crazy wait like some other bbq joints either. Good amount of food for the price, and some of their bottled beer selection is only a buck. Great brisket, fries and sauce! Great beef sandwich! Clean place with friendly staff and good prices. My only complaint would be the fries, they are the really thin ones, nothing really wrong with them, just not my favorite kind.

We came to this spot for dinner. we heard about this place from quite a few people. Well, we were not disappointed. The staff members welcomed us with a smile and we felt good. The meal was fresh and delicious. We loved this spot very much and we will definitely return to this restaurant. Keep it up.

This restaurant is my number one restaurant. Of all restaurants I know I love it most. I always suggests to my friends to go to that place. when I want to go to a good dinner, this restaurant comes straightaway to my head. exeptionalgorgeous and varied food and a rich menu.trained team, and agreeable ambience. Also, the bill is honest. I recommend this spot with no doubt.

So if you're the kind of person or people that likes what I call plain honest BBQ, check this place out.
Family-owned, gives back to the community quite a bit, country music, welcomes veterans, has $1 beers, soda pop, water, and if you have room for the food, sides that look wonderful.
But I'm telling you, my plate of short ribs was a full man's meal, and I've been working all day long, and people that know me know that I like to eat!
Also, this place is a slice of Americana. They have license plates from all over the place. If you enjoy a place with country atmosphere, check it out.
However, if you are the type of person that needs 5 sets of silverware to eat a meal, you probably need to go down the road, cuz they got napkins, toweletts and your fingers. And you're going to be licking your fingers Mighty often if you eat this barbecue!

The food was really good, the meat was a bit on the dry side but that's probably because it was close to closing time
