Wife and I had been vacationing for several weeks and were looking for a BBQ spot. Being from Texas we’re used to quality Q so finding a place in an unfamiliar city can be very hit and miss.

Wow, did we nail it when we found Delano’s. I had a three meat plate (sliced brisket, ribs, and jalapeño & cheese sausage) and the wife had the smoked chicken. Best ribs I have had in a while and the brisket and sausage were excellent. We were so glad to see that they don’t drown everything in sauce. We prefer the meat without sauce just like they serve it. They did have four different sauces available and the wife did try the jalapeño sauce on her chicken and really liked it.

So if you find yourself in the area and looking for great BBQ I think you will be pleased with the food and service that Delano’s offers.

Should also mention that the building used to be Blackbear Bosin’s studio back in the day. If you don’t know who that is google him.

Came in about 4 PM on Saturday (9/9/23). I ordered the sliced brisket and hot links with beans and fries.

The brisket was a little dry, but it was during a slow time of the day and I'm sure it's hard keeping BBQ moist and tasty all day. However, the hot links were WAY overcooked. Almost inedible. Note to the cooks/chef: sausage doesn't really need to be cooked, just smoke it a bit to add the smoky flavor and keep it under the heat lamps. Fries were also overcooked. They weren't bad (I think they may have been hand-cut in the restaurant instead of frozen, but just spent too much time in the fryer).

I'm somewhat disappointed, because this meal was somewhat close to being good.

It's a "order and pickup at the counter" kind of place, so there really isn't any "service" to speak of. However, I did have to wait for a bit as nobody was at the counter when I came in. Not a big deal, but they should keep an eye on the place when someone walks in.

Prices were a little higher than most BBQ places in the area, but not terribly out of line. Added $2 for sliced brisket. With the Soda and the tip, I think the total was over $25 (for one person). I'd have been okay with that price if the food had been better.

Might go back at some point, but I've had much better BBQ in Wichita. Even the chain place that closes at 8 was better than this place.

DBC has been one of the best BBQ options in town for years, found on West Douglas, about evenly between Seneca and the Delano Clock Tower roundabout, closest to Oak Street. The place has grown its look inside and out to be a prideful staple of Delano and the Wichita area. The food has always been delicious, and fairly priced when considering you can feed a pair with a two or three meat dinner. I regularly split a meal and go for the pulled pork with the wife favoring the chopped brisket. We both enjoy two of the best sides anywhere, the baked beans and fried okra. There’s plenty of other flavorful food here as well so it’s tough to go wrong. I will note that the counter service can be on the rude side repeatedly. However, this place has committed to a long run of excellent food in a restaurant full of vivid Wichita decor so I highly commend Delano Barbecue Company.

Delicious meat and BBQ, but the sides left a lot to be desired. I got the Carolina style sandwich with a side of beans and green beans. There were a few different flavors of bbq sauce, two of which I tried which were delicious (might be spicy to some people). I will say that I was rather disappointed in the sides, though. If they upgraded those to be unique vs just simple green beans, I'd give this place 5 stars.

I am picky with my BBQ, and this place was a knockout in all aspects!

I tried the pulled pork, put that in my macaroni and cheese!
The chicken was moist and tender! (The second time I went it was not as amazing as the first time, still good but not as amazing) Ask for the mango habanero sauce for the chicken! So good!

The brisket was out of this world! Packed with great flavor! I usually eat it with pickles and jalapeños, but not this one! I wanted all the smoky flavore.

The French fries should be made this way at all restaurants! So good, especially dipped in their BBQ sauce!

Good portion sizes, good value, great food! 👍
