BBB is located in the building that once housed Lynn's Paradise Cafe, and while nobody expects the business to imitate Lynn's at all, the building itself lends to certain doors and areas being considered the front. That is not the case here, and a terrible lack of signage doesn't help create a good first impression. The doors closest to the road, are not the front door. Instead, you'll have to walk through tight aisles around tables of seating to reach the front "lobby".
Once there, hopefully the host is at their stand or it's not immediately clear whether you should walk closer to the bar for help or stay at the empty stand. Also, if you're there for take-out, it may take a minute for you to notice that the pickup area is actually all the way at the back end of the building, and for some reason doesn't have its own door, so you're forced to walk down between rows of seated people.
Service is prompt. The food is delicious. Their sausage gravy is easily one of the best in Louisville. Eggs are always cooked perfectly as ordered. Their hash brown patties are triangular so you can easily make your own sandwich with the toast. Jams and jellies were painstakingly missing from the table, nor were they offered or mentioned on the menu from my recollection. Make sure to ask about the happy hour specials, not every table had the placard in the holder.
All in all, great food and service, but the flow of the space needs some help.
This is an amazing place for breakfast. Super fun atmosphere and excellent menu selection. Everything we got was amazing and service was great as well! I got the avocado toast, my son got the French toast and my husband got a skillet bowl and everyone loved their food. Prices are very reasonable as well. Wish we were staying in Louisville longer so we could come back again!!! Highly recommended, excellent food, service, and setting.
The location is cute and cozy. Friendly staff, good music and easy vibe. I ordered the shrimp and grits. The menu says fried egg but it came with a poached egg which I'm not a fan. The dish was a little salty but bursting with flavor. My friend ordered the oyster scramble and I was a little jealous. In addition we ordered a single pancake.
Overall, I'll go again during this trip.
Side note: Google maps takes you to the back of the restaurant so if you're not a local (like myself) that can throw you off slightly.
Really cool place! Loved the atmosphere. Our food was good! Our waitress Faith was amazing! Very hospitable and such a pretty smile! Thank you Faith for a real dining experience! You are an amazing young lady!
Great breakfast spot in an iconic location. The place was packed for a Friday morning, but after trying the Big Bad Hot Brown I now understand why. The food was fresh and delicious. The service was friendly and attentive. Great atmosphere. I will definitely come back to try more of the creative menu.
