We attended a Sunday matinee performance at the Baton Rouge Little Theater with another couple and decided afterward that we should get an early dinner. Portobello’s Grill was our destination and we checked in shortly after 5:00. Except for a group in a private dining area, the restaurant was empty. It seemed a bit odd, since the last time I was there it was for a Sunday brunch and it was jammed inside with multitudes waiting outside to get in. But that didn’t matter. We were quickly seated and our server Vince started taking very good care of us.

The filet mignon is fabulous. Think tender as butter with crispy outside season with melted butter. Like Ruth's Chris but better.

The BBQ shrimp sauce/gravy was excellent. Notes of fresh herbs.

The Catfish Bocage was very good. Freshly prepared.

The prime rib poboy had a great horseradish sauce. The bread was excellent.

I went to Portobello’s last night and let me tell you the food and service was 5 stars.
We were met at the door by smiling hostesses, and while enjoying our delicious entrees we were honored with a personal table visit from owners Michelle and Chef Slafani; first class.

    Thank you!
See you on our next visit.

Great food, great service! Didn't get photos of food but we had the napa salad ( approx $12) and chicken fried chicken ( approx $14)biscuits and they were both delicious. Bottled domestic was $4. Bottomless mimosas were $10. Bloody May's were $8 pc and really good. Place was clean ( posted pictures of that). We were there for a large and loud birthday party and it was a good time. Gabby managed the staff like a boss and staff was pleasant! ?? great first experience
