We had a pleasant time at Baru Bistro & Tapas. We were on a Monday and it was not busy at all. I'm Mexican and this was the best margarita I have ever had. Anywhere. We had one of every Happy Hour menu item and it was all delicious. It is a small place, intimate, great for conversation. It's off the street, but not what I'd call accessible, neither was the restroom. Definitely check this place out if you have no limitations.

This is one of my favorite places on New Orleans, they offered a Latin food, great service and delicious drinks with a nice desserts!

Leave boring bourbon and come to this gem on Magazine Street. This spot is excellent. The tapas, literally every single one is finger licking good. Highly recommend the margaritas. Great pit stop after a casual stroll through Magazine St. Their happy hour is top notch and their staff are so welcoming, friendly and gracious.

Nice diversion from the French Quarter, going to Magazine St in the Garden District. Tapas ranged from the traditional, like ceviche, to unusual plantain fritters filled with ropa vieja. We also had great lettuce wraps with shrimp and Spanish style gambas (prawns). Prices are a bit steep for the portions but in line with New Orleans. Service was a bit slow and distracted. We'd go back for some of this Latin- Caribbean fusion.

Food was delicious, service was pretty decent. The only reason for the low rating is the crazy prices. It’s understood that tapas are small plates but for 2 tapas (low weight of skirt steak and 4 head on shrimp) with two cocktails will put you over $60. Nice setting and friendly staff were pleasant but be warned you will be paying a hefty price for not a huge payoff or fulfillment in product.
