Great little hole in the wall with amazing fresh oysters! The loaves are huge, the seafood tasty and the servers are friendly! We were there later in the evening but were welcomed warmly and enjoyed our meal. The oyster stew is exactly as I remember my mom making when I was a child. The catfish loaf and oyster loaf were both delicious. We will be visiting again on our next trip to NOLA. It is cash only so be sure to hit the ATM before going!
Absolutely enjoyed every dish we ordered. The service is excellent. The oysters are sooooo good. The gumbo is rich and flavorful. The crab claws were hot and fried perfectly. We also had 1/2 shrimp loaf and spaghetti w/meatballs. Sorry for no pics of the loaf or spaghetti. Everyone was really nice.
Great mom and pop style place. Food was awesome. Gluten free options are amazing. Don't forget your cash ( although they do have an ATM). Servers and staff were friendly. Would definitely go back again if in New Orleans. The neighborhood is perfect for wandering before or after a meal or snack.
As it turns out the place used gluten free ingredients to fry everything. We would recommend this stop if you're in town. They get some big name patrons on occasion but we missed any of them. They have been in business for 100 years as of this post literally today. C's sauce on the fries is great. There really was no wait when we went.
What's there to say about Casamento's that someone hasn't said already? It's a no frills old school joint. The service can be gruff but its fast and efficient. I recommend looking up the menu ahead of time and deciding what you want but the answer is of course - oysters. You want raw oysters, charbroiled oysters and an oyster loaf. That is what they are good at and those are the best things on the menu. They're also the only place I've ever seen serve crab claws which are a fun beer snack. It's not the healthiest menu with most of it being fried but it is damn delicious.
It's cash only so plan accordingly.
