“This place had *great food* and *excellent service* but on the flipside, the "Catfish Opelousas", in all it's glory, was underwhelming for the $24 you pay for it. Another reviewer made the same observation about the tons of non de-veined shrimp they lay over one, yes one fillet of *mushy* baked catfish, that's advertised as *grilled* . The Po Boys are the real treat, which is massive, served on buttered french bread. It's a shame for such a historic fine dine in restaurant the casual food orders are better than the expensive specialty entrées. I definitely recommend this establishment”

“We were on our way back to Dallas from a Disney family trip and stopped into this off-the-beaten path diner. The whole family agreed that of all of the restaurants we ate at this last week between Dallas and Orlando (including in the French Quarter) and back this place was hands down the BEST. The gumbo, boudin balls, sausage, onion rings, and that Strawberry cream pie!!! I grew up watching Justin Wilson and eating Cajun/creole living on the TX/Louisiana border so I would say I know quite a lot about this cuisine - this is not from a novice palette. Do your taste buds a favor and stop here. You won’t regret it - ayeeeee!”
