We had a relaxing 43rd anniversary at the inn. The food was exquisite, starting with breakfast, and ending with dinner. The owners were wonderful and they made a recommendation on the best room for us. There are places for lunch in Castine and in Deer Isle. The Mexican restaurant was excellent.

The Pentagoet is a gem! My girlfriend and I were lucky enough to spend four nights here on our recent trip through Maine and had a fantastic and memorable stay. The inn had just changed ownership two weeks prior to our arrival, but our experience was seamless and there was a real sense of energy and excitement in the air. We were greeted by the new owners Matt and George literally on the front steps as we arrived, and they and the rest of the staff made the Pentagoet feel like a home away from home. In terms of practicalities, Matt gave us a long, personally-curated list of recommendations for places to go and things to do in the area that served as our itinerary for much of our visit, and we loved every stop along the way. At the inn, we enjoyed a delicious dinner with very friendly service (and live jazz!) at the restaurant, a few visits to the coziest pub you can imagine, and a restful few nights of sleep in our large and comfortable room. Bigger picture, the Pentagoet feels like the centerpiece and heart of the picturesque and charming town of Castine, and the building itself is full of history and the quirks one would expect from a 1890s Victorian. While Matt and George's creativity, impeccable tastes, and passion for their new project -- and lives -- is obvious, so is the emphasis they are putting on acting as thoughtful stewards of a place that's got such deep-rooted character and seems a gathering place and source of pride for the community. Thanks to Matt & George for being such amazing hosts! We really look forward to visiting the Pentagoet again soon and seeing how its next chapter unfolds.

Matt and George (and their wonderful dog, Mister!) are incredible hosts. Their hospitality is truly unmatched, and they made me and my partner feel at home. I cannot wait for another visit at the Pentagoet!

The Pentagöet is a true gem in this small town and the hospitality was outstanding!! This is a must stay spot when visiting Maine and I cannot recommend it enough.

This review is only for the pub/wine bar. The service by our waitress Mary Grace was excellent! Unfortunately that is where the positive review stops. The food came out very slow and was okay. They were out of many of the main dishes and 1/3 of the desserts. We booked to sit on the patio to hear the jazz and we were put around the corner where you could not hear. They were good enough to allow us to sit inside so we could hear but even the jazz could not make up for the lackluster food.
