Muscongus Bay Lobster

Incredibly fresh seafood, amazingly beautiful setting...what a spot! (And kudos for having that big sink to wash up after wrestling with lobster! Brilliant!!)

Located at Round Pond ME, this lobster pound is dog friendly as you eat at picnic tables located on a huge deck overlooking Muscongus Bay. Place your order and pay at the window. When it's ready they call your name and deliver it to you with a roll of paper towels. Reasonable prices. Plenty of choices. BYOB. People also bring additional side dishes, tablecloths, etc.

Food was hot and well prepared but the price was about 25% higher for the lobster dinner than the Round Pond Lobster Co-op right next door. The meals are exactly the same. 1 lobster, 1 lb of steamers, 1 ear of corn, 1 serving of drawn butter. The service was the same and the view at the co-op is a little better. We have eaten at both and prefer the co-op which I would rate as 5 stars.

My parent's regularly purchase fresh seafood from here. If you're looking for something specific or a large amount of, it's best to call ahead, either the day before or first thing in the morning. On my last visit, my had bought haddock and scallops caught that morning, which we cooked at home. The quality was out of this world! Certainly off the beaten path, but well worth the trip.

Love the lobster dinners..who wouldn't! Steamed clams or mussels with the lobster is just a wonderful bonus. Had oysters as an appetizer. This year's crop especially plump and delicious. Surprise..the pasta with Alfredo sauce is fabulous for non seafood eating friends.
