First time at Dufour last evening .
Glad to have booked a reservation in the, smaller more intimate parlor room than the open , louder dining room. Only complaint was extremely dim lighting which made the printed paper menus difficult to read .
Cocktail menu was original and several were sampled and found to be delicious.
Fresh oysters ordered for a start with sauces that received mixed reviews at our table.
Ordered the special —- a deep fried veal chop, risotto and asparagus. Tender and tasty, risotto cooked perfectly and asparagus crisp. The hanger steak was the big hit. Nicely seasoned, very tender and a generous portion served with potatoes and asparagus.
Dessert—— ordered the chocolate cake with coffee cream in a single sized skillet. Tiny but rich, glad we shared !
Also ordered the cheesecake with fig reduction. The cheesecake was served as a round soufflé —- basically tasteless with a strange consistency and unsweetened. The fig reduction added some sweetness but an aftertaste that we all felt did nothing to improve the cheesecake. This was a miss and was graciously removed form our bill.
Service was professional as well as friendly. And presentation of all dishes was appealing.
Prices were reasonable for the quality of the food and we will definitely return

It is a warm, clean, peaceful environment everytime we come in. We have visited Dufour about a dozen times and there is always one common theme..True enjoyment and laughter throughout the night!!!!. The staff is extremely attentive, professional and knowledgeable. Keep up the great work we look forward to coming with our friends and family as much as we can

A well earned full 5 stars! The food was phenomenal and our server was amazing. The Inn (and specifically Dufour) is so beautiful inside - the perfect new place for South Berwick. We can’t wait to go back!

Dufour is a very welcome addition to South Berwick. Absolutely stunning decor and physical facility. The menu has many attractive options from oysters, to seafood, steaks, vegan, etc... We wanted to order everything. Salmon and flank steak entrees were great. We tried two specialty cocktails which are worth trying. Lobster ? bisque was perfect, mussels were okay but creme fresh made broth look unappealing. Still tasted fine. Table was small (in lounge) but the tasteful bar design made up for the couple of minor shortcomings. I highly recommend this place. Casual upscale, with coordinated seasoned service squad. Nice to see and experience.

We waited all summer for Stage House Inn to open and finally last week we had the opportunity to dine in the parlor. Great cocktails! The food was excellent, on par with Black Birch and some of our other local favorites, and reasonably priced. We’re very excited to have such a great dining option right in our backyard! Looking forward to returning already!
