Black's Bar & Kitchen

I truly cannot complain about anything at Black's, but I feel 5 stars would not be a fair grade. It was Monday night. We were the first to sit down in the dining room. Food was amazing: oysters, charcuterie, risotto with filet, Berkshire Pork chop and gnocchi. Ridiculously delicious. Service, good... couldn't tell you his name. Wine, divine.

A Bethesda stand by. After all these years, the food and service stand above the rest. Whether in the bar or dining room, they have some of the best seafood around.

Went here for happy hour and only ordered off the happy hour menu. We ordered two different cocktails- a greyhound and a burnt orange bourbon drink. Both were a bit light in the liquor area but drinkable. The duck nachos were good but pretty much only tasted like BBQ sauce and the grilled calamari was enjoyable. We will probably return as it is hard to find cocktails on happy hour in Bethesda.

Came here for a department holiday party. The food was good and straightforward, but the service wasn't too good. Many enjoyed their dishes. I had the Caeser salad with chicken and the mushroom soup and house red wine. The wine was good, but the soup portion was quite small, as was the salad. It was the pick three selection. They did overcook one dish, but they were likely rushed. The bread was tasty and the mussels we're good. Definitely beware that you need to clearly specify how you want your food cooked (medium vs well done) and if you want your food spicy. They over cooked or under cooked a few dishes or added too much spice.

We have been here four or five times over the last couple of years. The food is always delicious. The service is usually pretty good, and there are some characters amongst the wait staff. But, there is no vibe in this restaurant anymore. Sitting outside isn't bad, but the inside dining room has no energy. Actually, it's just boring, but the menu options can make it work.
