J. Hollinger's Waterman's Chophouse

I was quite happy with my first visit to Waterman's this past Sunday, but I am a bit disappointed with the functioning of the reservations system. Trying to book a table for two for the music occurring Tuesday evening. I am still not sure I got what I was trying for or what is/was available. Several text messages told me the reservations service would contact me quickly -- have still heard nothing. Would really like to be able to just call or talk to a real person and straighten it out.

I'm very familiar with Daily Dish and Dish and Dram and this is right on point - amazing food and ambience. We live near the restaurant and walked in to find several other neighbors we knew. Timothy provided great wine recommendations. Oysters - wow!! All our seafood dishes were terrific. The new bar is beautiful. Highly recommend.

What a great addition to Silver Spring! Nothing disappointed. They rightfully showcased the G&T as well as their smokey Odd Fashioned. The mussels were wonderfully soft and velvety, we had to stop them from taking the sauce because it was so good we wanted to dip our fries in it. The Angus done medium rare was delicious. To close out I had the strawberry rhubarb tart and it reminded me of flavors my grandma used to cook up, fresh and vibrant. An added bonus, the booths come with their own light and music volume control!!!! All around great experience.

We came to celebrate my husband’s birthday. Our waiter was clearly experienced and professional but he had too many tables. He forgot to put in our side dish and we got our steak and basically finished it before the side came out. Then we ordered two desserts and he repeated them back to us, but forgot to put one of them in. It wasn’t on the check, so we didn’t even mention it. I felt like steak was quite good, but they should make it clearer that it will be very plain unless you add a topper. I took the topper as more of a suggestion, but it was very much needed, the steak could have used a little more salt in my opinion (we got the largest one, the 22oz). We got the lump crab and the portion was very small for the price. The mussels and Cobb salad were both very nice though. The wait between courses was a little long, but I imagine that’s because they just opened and likely won’t be the case in future. I think I would come back and give it another chance, but for the cost, I expected better service and slightly larger portions. For the price point, I think other comparable places in the area are providing that. Good luck to them, very excited to have a higher end steakhouse in Silver Spring, it has been much needed.
