Food is OK, but a bit overpriced. Large variety of dishes, including several vegetarian options. Great servers! I went with my wife and two children at a time when the restaurant was almost empty (only 4 tables used out of the over 20 they have. I asked if we could you a table for 5 - as we wanted to seat on booths - but they refused. The restaurant continued to have only a couple of tables used the whole time we were there.

This is a great place! I love the food, I love the oysters especially! They need to have a wider wine selection as far as sweet wines are concerned. I enjoy Moscato's and sweet or delicate wines from Germany. But other than that, everything is perfect. They keep their menu fresh and exciting.

It's Sunday night before a federal holiday and I was looking for a chill place to hang out, have a drink, and avoid the freezing wind outside. Wandering around Taking Park, I strolled past this place and decided to take a look.

Easily accessible from the street with streetside parking around the neighborhood, Republic is nested between some shops. Going in, there's a bar straight ahead with a seating/restaurant area to the right.

The hostess guided me and my S/O to a booth. We arrived right in time for open mic night Sunday at 9pm. Sound quality is debatable. The openness between the bar with sports fans and the open mic area leads to many interruptions to the performers. Other than that, the area was relaxed and supported small or midsized groups pretty easily.

The craft cocktails we're decent, well-balanced drinks. The desserts were the highlight of their menu. The carrot and parsnip cake had a sweet, but not saturated flavor, and their chocolate tart came with salted pretzel clusters which added a balanced texture to the dish.

Prices here are a tad expensive, but overall it is a good experience for a small group to hang out and have a drink at.

Republic is a Takoma Park staple. The whole experience you will love. The ambiance is creative and comfortable. They have an extensive menu that has an option for every dietary need. I also love how a lot of their options are based on the season. My favorite plate is the vegetable plate. It is always so creative. For those that doubt eating meal of only vegetables is filling and isn't boring this plate will change your mind. Republic is on the pricy side so I don't go too often I consider it more of a treat. I might recommended. Great date spot.
