Barrio Tacos

This place is an absolute gem and I highly recommend it to anyone. We stumbled upon it after fighting for parking for over an hour on Columbus Day weekend and let me tell you, I’m glad we did. The place also has a día de los muertos vibe which fits in perfectly with the rest of salem. The hostess told us it would be about a 50 minute wait which we thought was probably typical for any place during peak tourist season so we put our name in. Very pleased that they let us use the bathroom while we waited. We probably only waited about 30-40 minutes and we were texted that our table was ready. We were seated and ready to eat. Our waiter, Xavier, was excellent. Very patient with my chaotic group as we tried to figure out our order (we were a mess because we knew we had to eat in time to make a tour after). He made great recommendations and was in great spirits despite how busy he must’ve been. I told him I’d write this review and I’m following through on that!! Also please pay for this man’s parking, he said he has to pay $25 every day during peak season just to get to work!! He is great and you are lucky to have him. The food was also amazing which really sealed the deal. The customizable tacos make this enjoyable even for the pickiest of eaters. Definitely have to try this place if you’re in town. You won’t be disappointed.

Welcome to the neighborhood @barrio_salem ! I really enjoyed my first visit. The tres amigos was a great way to try different flavors. The special tacos were delicious. I had the tocino or bacon, and the shrimp both were fresh and full of flavor. The bartenders were friendly and helpful. One was working her first shift, and she nailed it with the Mango Margarita she made for me!

This place is pretty damn good. The food choices are unique and delicious, the atmosphere is great, wait staff is friendly, and they've got whiskey and tequila for days.

However, the food is pretty salty, and it definitely gets to be a bit much towards the end of the meal. Also, the drinks, while delicious, are pretty weak, so don't come here looking for a buzz.

But all said and done, I enjoyed my experience, and definitely recommend trying this place out if you've never been.
